ZEEP

Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 1, 2026  ·  Last updated: June 2, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how ZEEP ("the App"), developed and published by ZOR.O Software s. r. o. ("we," "us," or "our"), handles information when you use our Android application. ZEEP is an audio editor designed with a core principle: respect for your time and attention.

ZEEP does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data or user data. All audio processing happens entirely on your device. The App makes no network connections.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

ZEEP is designed to function entirely offline. The App does not collect, transmit, or share any of the following:

Personal identifiers (name, email, phone number, address); location data (GPS, network-based, or approximate); financial or payment information; contacts, call logs, or SMS data; browsing or search history; device identifiers, advertising IDs, or hardware serial numbers; analytics, diagnostics, crash logs, or usage statistics; cookies or tracking technologies.

ZEEP accesses and processes audio files locally on your device in order to provide its core editing functionality. No audio data is ever transmitted off your device or shared with any third party.

We do not use any advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, tracking libraries, or crash-reporting tools. The App contains no ads and will never contain ads.

2. How the App Works

ZEEP is an offline audio editor. When you open, edit, or export audio files, all processing happens locally on your device using FFmpeg (via FFmpegKit, licensed under LGPL v3.0) and SoundTouch (licensed under LGPL v2.1). Audio playback is handled by AndroidX Media3 (ExoPlayer). No audio data is transmitted to any server, and no audio content leaves your device through the App. A full list of third-party libraries, their licenses, and source-code locations is available in our Open-Source Licenses page.

User preferences (such as UI settings) are stored locally on your device using Android DataStore. Project and file metadata is stored locally using an on-device Room database. None of this data is transmitted off your device.

3. Permissions

ZEEP requests the following Android permissions. Each permission is used solely for the purposes described below and does not result in any data being collected or transmitted.

Permission Purpose
READ_MEDIA_AUDIO Access audio files on your device so you can open and edit them within the App. Required on Android 13 and above.
RECORD_AUDIO Record audio directly within the App using your device's microphone. Audio recordings are saved locally to your device and are never transmitted.
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE Access audio files on devices running Android 12 and below (legacy permission, limited to maxSdkVersion 32). Replaced by READ_MEDIA_AUDIO on newer versions.
WAKE_LOCK Prevent the device from sleeping during long audio processing or playback operations to avoid interruptions.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE Required transitively by the AndroidX Media3 (ExoPlayer) audio playback library to check network connectivity state. The App itself makes no network connections; no data is transmitted off the device. This permission grants no network access — it is a read-only check of connection status.

All permissions that require runtime consent are requested at the time of use, with a clear explanation of why the permission is needed, in accordance with Android's runtime permission model.

4. Third-Party Libraries and Services

ZEEP uses the following third-party libraries. Unless otherwise noted, these libraries operate entirely on your device and do not collect or transmit data:

Library Purpose Data Collected
FFmpegKit (LGPL v3.0) Audio decoding, encoding, and format conversion None
SoundTouch (LGPL v2.1) Time-stretching and pitch-shifting None
Signalsmith Stretch (MIT) Phase-vocoder time-stretching and pitch-shifting None
Sonic (Apache 2.0) PICOLA time-stretching for speech None
Oboe (Apache 2.0) Low-latency audio I/O None
AndroidX Media3 (ExoPlayer) Audio playback None
AndroidX Room Local on-device database for project metadata None (local only)
AndroidX DataStore Local on-device storage for user preferences None (local only)
Dagger Hilt Dependency injection framework None

The App does not include any advertising libraries, analytics services, crash-reporting tools, or social media SDKs.

See the Open-Source Licenses page for the full list of third-party libraries shipped with ZEEP, their licenses, copyright holders, and where to obtain source code.

5. No In-App Purchases

ZEEP has no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, and no billing integration of any kind. No app features are locked behind a paywall. Everything in the App is available at no cost, with no payment required.

The App does not communicate with Google Play or any payment processor. No financial information of any kind is collected, processed, or transmitted.

6. Children's Privacy

ZEEP is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Since the App does not collect personal data from any user, no special data handling for children is applicable.

7. Data Security

Because ZEEP does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers, there is no user data at risk of unauthorized access, breach, or misuse. All data created or used by the App (audio files, project metadata, preferences) remains on your device under the security protections provided by the Android operating system.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

ZEEP does not store any user data on external servers. All app-related data (audio files, projects, preferences) is stored locally on your device. You can delete this data at any time by clearing the App's data through your device settings or by uninstalling the App. No data persists on any server after deletion.

9. Your Rights Under Applicable Laws

Since ZEEP does not collect any personal data, there is no personal data for us to provide, correct, delete, or port. You retain all rights granted to you under applicable laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and similar regulations.

If you believe that your privacy has been affected in any way by the use of this App, or if you have any questions about your rights, please contact us using the information provided in Section 12. We will cooperate with any legitimate request.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

If a future version of ZEEP introduces any form of data collection, we will update this Privacy Policy before the change takes effect, clearly describe what data is collected and why, and where required by law, obtain your consent before collecting any personal data.

11. Data Safety Form Alignment

The information in this Privacy Policy is consistent with the Data Safety Form submitted to Google Play for this App. In the Data Safety Form, we have declared that ZEEP does not collect or share any user data. If you notice any discrepancy between this Privacy Policy and the Data Safety Form, please contact us so we can resolve it.
