This Privacy Policy describes how ZEEP ("the App"), developed and published by ZOR.O Software s. r. o. ("we," "us," or "our"), handles information when you use our Android application. ZEEP is an audio editor designed with a core principle: respect for your time and attention.
ZEEP edits audio entirely on your device — your audio, projects, and files never leave it. The only data the App can ever transmit is optional, anonymous usage and crash data, and only if you explicitly opt in. Nothing is collected before you say yes, and you can revoke your consent at any time.
Regardless of whether you opt in to analytics, the App never collects, transmits, or shares any of the following:
Your audio content, recordings, or exported files; file names or project names; personal identifiers (name, email, phone number, address); precise or GPS location; financial or payment information; contacts, call logs, or SMS data; browsing or search history; advertising identifiers or hardware serial numbers.
ZEEP accesses and processes audio files locally on your device in order to provide its core editing functionality. No audio data is ever transmitted off your device or shared with any third party.
We do not use any advertising SDKs or tracking libraries. The App contains no ads and will never contain ads.
To learn which editing tools are useful and to find crashes, ZEEP includes Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, services provided by Google LLC. Collection is disabled when the App is installed. The App transmits no analytics or crash data unless you explicitly opt in.
On first launch, the App asks whether you want to share anonymous usage and crash data. If you decline, nothing is collected. If you accept, you can change your mind at any time with the "Share anonymous usage data" toggle on the App's About tab. Turning the toggle off stops all collection and resets the pseudonymous analytics identifier, so previously collected data can no longer be associated with your device.
If — and only if — you opt in, the following data is collected:
App-interaction events — which editing tools are opened and applied, import/export activity,
audio formats used, and layer counts. Values such as durations are recorded as coarse buckets, never exact values.
App-instance ID — a randomly generated, pseudonymous identifier for this installation of the App.
It is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or any advertising identifier.
Crash logs and diagnostics — stack traces, device model, operating system version, and similar
technical details used to diagnose crashes.
Approximate location (country/city) — derived by Google from your IP address at the time of
transmission. Precise location is never collected.
This data is processed by Google LLC on our behalf. For details on how Google handles it, see Google's Privacy Policy and Privacy and Security in Firebase. The data is encrypted in transit, is never sold, and is never used for advertising. Retention periods are described in Section 9.
ZEEP's entire editing pipeline runs on your device. When you open, edit, or export audio files, all processing happens locally on your device using FFmpeg (via FFmpegKit, licensed under LGPL v3.0) and SoundTouch (licensed under LGPL v2.1). Audio playback is handled by AndroidX Media3 (ExoPlayer). No audio data is transmitted to any server, and no audio content leaves your device through the App. A full list of third-party libraries, their licenses, and source-code locations is available in our Open-Source Licenses page.
User preferences (such as UI settings) are stored locally on your device using Android DataStore. Project and file metadata is stored locally using an on-device Room database. None of this data is transmitted off your device.
ZEEP requests the following Android permissions. Each permission is used solely for the purposes described below; none of them results in any data collection beyond the opt-in analytics described in Section 2.
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| RECORD_AUDIO | Record audio directly within the App using your device's microphone. Audio recordings are saved locally to your device and are never transmitted. |
| READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE | Access audio files on devices running Android 12 and below (legacy permission, limited to maxSdkVersion 32). On newer Android versions, files are opened through the system file picker, which needs no standing permission. |
| INTERNET | Transmit the opt-in analytics and crash data described in Section 2 — this is its only use. Audio editing performs no network activity, and nothing is transmitted unless you have opted in. |
| ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Lets Firebase check network connectivity so that opt-in data uploads are scheduled only when the device is online. This is a read-only status check; it grants no network access by itself. |
| WAKE_LOCK | Prevent the device from sleeping during long audio processing or playback operations to avoid interruptions. |
ZEEP opens audio files through the Android system file picker (Storage Access Framework), which grants per-file access chosen by you — the App therefore requests no media-library permission on Android 13 and above. All permissions that require runtime consent are requested at the time of use, with a clear explanation of why the permission is needed, in accordance with Android's runtime permission model.
ZEEP uses the following third-party libraries and services. Unless otherwise noted, they operate entirely on your device and do not collect or transmit data:
| Library | Purpose | Data Collected |
|---|---|---|
| FFmpegKit (LGPL v3.0) | Audio decoding, encoding, and format conversion | None |
| SoundTouch (LGPL v2.1) | Time-stretching and pitch-shifting | None |
| Signalsmith Stretch (MIT) | Phase-vocoder time-stretching and pitch-shifting | None |
| Sonic (Apache 2.0) | PICOLA time-stretching for speech | None |
| Oboe (Apache 2.0) | Low-latency audio I/O | None |
| AndroidX Media3 (ExoPlayer) | Audio playback | None |
| AndroidX Room | Local on-device database for project metadata | None (local only) |
| AndroidX DataStore | Local on-device storage for user preferences | None (local only) |
| Dagger Hilt | Dependency injection framework | None |
| Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) | Opt-in usage analytics (Section 2) | Only after opt-in: app-interaction events, app-instance ID, approximate location derived from IP |
| Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) | Opt-in crash reporting (Section 2) | Only after opt-in: crash logs, device diagnostics |
The App does not include any advertising libraries or social media SDKs. Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics are the only components capable of transmitting data, and they do so only after you opt in.
See the Open-Source Licenses page for the full list of third-party libraries shipped with ZEEP, their licenses, copyright holders, and where to obtain source code.
ZEEP has no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, and no billing integration of any kind. No app features are locked behind a paywall. Everything in the App is available at no cost, with no payment required.
The App contains no billing integration and does not communicate with any payment processor. No financial information of any kind is collected, processed, or transmitted.
ZEEP is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. The optional analytics described in Section 2 is opt-in, pseudonymous, and never used for advertising or profiling.
All data created or used by the App on your device (audio files, project metadata, preferences) remains on your device under the security protections provided by the Android operating system.
If you opt in to analytics, the transmitted data is encrypted in transit and stored on Google infrastructure under the safeguards described in Privacy and Security in Firebase. Because that data is pseudonymous and contains no audio content or personal identifiers, the risk associated with it is inherently limited.
All app-related data (audio files, projects, preferences) is stored locally on your device. You can delete it at any time by clearing the App's data through your device settings or by uninstalling the App.
If you opt in to analytics, user-level analytics data is retained by Firebase for up to 14 months and crash reports for approximately 90 days, after which they are deleted automatically. Aggregate statistics that cannot be linked to any device may be retained longer. Revoking your consent (Section 2) resets the analytics identifier, disassociating previously collected data from your installation.
You retain all rights granted to you under applicable laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and similar regulations.
The opt-in analytics data described in Section 2 is pseudonymous: we hold no account, name, email address, or other information that could link it to you as a person. Under Article 11 GDPR, where we cannot identify a data subject, we are not obliged to acquire additional information solely to fulfil access or erasure requests — and we do not. The most direct way to stop collection and unlink past data is the in-app opt-out toggle, which also resets the analytics identifier. If you are able to provide your app-instance ID, we can additionally request deletion of the associated analytics data from Google via the Firebase User Deletion API — contact us using the details in Section 13.
If you believe that your privacy has been affected in any way by the use of this App, or if you have any questions about your rights, please contact us using the information provided in Section 13. We will cooperate with any legitimate request.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
If a future version of ZEEP expands data collection beyond what is described here, we will update this Privacy Policy before the change takes effect, clearly describe what data is collected and why, and where required by law, obtain your consent before collecting any personal data.
The information in this Privacy Policy is consistent with the Data Safety Form submitted to Google Play for this App. In the Data Safety Form, we declare the optional, opt-in collection of app interactions, crash logs, diagnostics, and a device identifier (the app-instance ID), used for analytics and app functionality, not shared for advertising, encrypted in transit, and deletable via the in-app opt-out. If you notice any discrepancy between this Privacy Policy and the Data Safety Form, please contact us so we can resolve it.
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or the App's data practices, please contact us:
